Get your priorities in order

THE EDITOR: Open letter to Prime Minister Rowley.
Spending money on changing the coat of arms, tearing down statues that have been standing for hundreds of years and changing street names when we have the most atrocious roads, condemned schools, impassable bridges, flooding, crime is the most senseless waste of funds.
Removing statues and changing street names will not erase history. If it is deemed vital that the steelpan be included on the coat of arms, then do so, but leave the three ships. By all means name new streets and erect statues of worthy people in other places, but leave our historical statues and street names intact.
History is not there for you to dislike. It is there for you to learn from. And if it offends you, even better. Because then you are less likely to repeat it. It is not yours to erase. It belongs to all of us.
